The Leicavit is a trigger-wind baseplate for Leica M cameras. It replaces the standard bottom plate, and a folding lever beneath the body advances the film with a downward pull, so frames can follow one another without the camera leaving the eye; the added mass low down also helps steady it. The design goes back to the screw-mount Leicavit Leitz made for the IIIf and IIIg from 1950. This one wears the anthracite grey finish rather than the usual silver chrome or black paint.
