Almost every rigid Summicron was made for the M bayonet; only a small quantity left the factory in Leica screw mount, built between 1960 and 1963 for owners of screw-thread bodies. Dennis Laney's collector guide puts that run at about 1,160 lenses. Mechanically and optically it is the standard rigid, with a seven-element optic, ten-blade diaphragm, E39 filter thread and one-metre focusing in a chrome barrel with the scalloped grip. Screw-mount rigids surface only occasionally.
