The Leicavit MP, catalogued SYOOM-M, is Leitz's trigger-wind baseplate: it replaces the camera's own base and advances the film by a lever pulled under the body, so the camera stays at the eye through a sequence. It was made for the professional Leica MP of 1956-57 and fits the M2, the M3 needing modification. Under 500 MP bodies were built, around 140 of them black paint, which is the measure of how few original black paint winders can exist.
