Cosina introduced the Color-Skopar 50mm f/2.5 in 2002 as a deliberately compact standard lens for Leica screw mount, seven elements in six groups on a heavily reworked double Gauss layout. It is only around 23mm long and weighs about 200g, built in brass rather than aluminium, with a ten-blade rounded diaphragm, 0.7m closest focus and a 39mm filter thread. In silver chrome it sits naturally on a screw-mount body, and it draws cleanly with a mild, rounded character.
