The eight-element Summicron, eight elements in six groups by Walter Mandler, was Leitz's original 35mm f/2 for the M, built from 1958 until 1969. This is the black M3 lens, carrying the bayonet goggles that bring the 35mm field into the M3 finder. Black eight-elements were made in far smaller numbers than chrome ones, and the black goggled version is among the least often seen of all. Optically it is the standard lens: E39 filters, about 150 grams.
