Angenieux of Saint-Heand, founded by Pierre Angenieux in 1935, made a small range of fast still lenses alongside the cine optics for which the firm is better known. The Type P1 90mm f/1.8 is the fast portrait lens of that range, in Leica screw mount, so it fits thread-mount bodies directly and M bodies through an adapter. It is among the most sought after French rangefinder lenses, valued for its separation at full aperture, and complete examples reach the market only occasionally.
