The Type S21 50mm f/1.5 was the fastest standard lens Angenieux of France offered for still cameras, and this is the original Leica 39mm screw mount form, not a later conversion, which makes it the version collectors look for. It mounts on a Barnack body directly and on any M through an adapter. Wide open it gives the rendering these lenses are bought for: luminous, gently haloed highlights, a rapid fall-off and backgrounds that swirl away from the plane of focus. Screw-mount examples surface rarely.
