J.H. Dallmeyer of London built the Kinematograph as a fast cine objective in the late 1920s, and it is one of the very few Petzval-derived designs that can still be put on a modern camera. Two cemented doublets, uncoated glass and heavy field curvature give it its signature: a small central disc of real sharpness with everything around it drawn into swirl, strongest at portrait distances. Dallmeyer supplied these in cine mounts, and this example has been rehoused for Leica M.
