The Elmar-M 50mm f/2.8 is the modern collapsible Elmar, in production from 1994 to 2007 with fewer than 17,461 lenses made. It keeps the classic four elements in three groups and adds a 0.7 m close focus and E39 internal filter thread. Order number 11823 is the silver chrome finish in lacquered brass, at about 245 g, while 11831 is the lighter anodized black. Collapsed, it turns an M into something close to a compact camera.
