The Leica Elmarit-M 21mm f/2.8 ASPH (11897 silver chrome, 6-bit coded) employs an 8-element in 7-group aspherical optical design derived from the pre-ASPH Elmarit-M formula but refined with one large-diameter precision-molded aspheric element. This construction delivers markedly improved control of astigmatism and field curvature over its predecessor while retaining the classic Leica M bayonet mount. Introduced in 1994 and discontinued in 2006, the ASPH variant remains relatively scarce in factory silver-chrome finish.
