Order number 10300 is the M2 body supplied without the self-timer. The M2 was the first Leica rangefinder with 35mm brightlines, its 0.72x finder showing 35, 50 and 90mm frames, and it remains the M most photographers reach for with a 35mm lens. The earliest bodies use a pushbutton rewind release on the front rather than the later lever, which places a camera in the first years of the run. Leitz assigned about 93,221 M2 serial numbers between 1957 and 1968.
