The Angenieux Type R11 28mm f/3.5 is a rare wide-angle lens for Leica screw-mount rangefinders, produced in very limited numbers during the early 1950s. Its optical design is a 6-element 4-group modified Tessar derivative with a front cemented doublet, optimized for high contrast and minimal distortion on 35mm format. The lens features Angenieux’s proprietary anti-reflection coatings and a 10-blade diaphragm. Only a few hundred units were made, making it one of the scarcest post-war French optics for Leica.
