The 'corner' M3s are the very first cameras Leitz built, marked by a sharp edge at the right-hand corner of the brass top plate where later bodies curve smoothly into the raised bar around the rangefinder window. Only the earliest cameras got it, and not even all of the first 800. They carry the other first-run features too: glass film pressure plate, no frameline preview lever, double stroke advance. Out of 233,209 M3s, these are the ones the auction houses catalogue by name.
