Leica built the M6 from 1984 to 2003 and assigned 158,309 serial numbers, 82,831 of them to black bodies against 50,876 in silver chrome. Order number 10404 covers the black 0.72x camera. The top and bottom plates are zinc with a painted finish rather than brass, and there is no top-plate inscription except on special editions. The through-the-lens meter runs from a single CR 1/3N lithium cell, and the 0.72x finder was standard, with 0.85x offered alongside.
