Only about 500 of the eight-element 35mm Summicrons were built in Leica screw mount, against a bayonet run that lasted from 1958 to 1969, which makes the LTM version much the scarcest way to own Walter Mandler's eight elements in six groups. Optically it is the M lens: E39 filter thread, a barrel of roughly 150 grams, and the crisp centre with quietly dissolving backgrounds that the version is bought for. In chrome it suits Barnack bodies and adapts to M cameras.
