The M6 ran from 1984 to 2003 and accounted for 158,309 serial numbers, the camera that put a through-the-lens meter into an otherwise fully mechanical M body with no batteries needed for the shutter. Black finish bodies, order numbers 10404 and 10413, are the most numerous at 82,831 against 50,876 in silver chrome, roughly 6,000 in titanium and far smaller runs in black lacquer, platinum and gold. Top and bottom plates are zinc, and the meter takes a CR 1/3N cell.
