The fourth version of the 50mm f/1 Noctilux-M ran from 1993 to 2008 and is the one with the built-in telescoping hood, replacing the separate clamp-on shades of the earlier barrels. Walter Mandler and Gerhardt Bechmann's design uses seven elements in six groups and deliberately avoids aspherical surfaces, reaching f/1 with high-refractive-index glass instead. Filters are E60, focus stops at 1m and the lens weighs about 630g. Total f/1 production across all four versions came to 17,535 lenses.
