Leitz made the 8.5cm f/1.5 Summarex from 1943 to 1960 and finished only 276 of them in black against 4,066 in chrome, which makes the black version the one collectors of the screw-mount system look for. Optically the two are identical: Max Berek's 7 element, 5 group design, a 17 blade diaphragm, E58 filters, one metre close focus and around 800 grams of brass and glass. It was the fastest telephoto Leitz offered for the Barnack cameras.
