This is the black Canadian eight-element Summicron with its depth-of-field figures engraved in red. The optics are Walter Mandler's eight elements in six groups, the design that opened Leica's 35mm f/2 line in 1958 and ran until 1969, built at Ernst Leitz Canada in Midland as well as at Wetzlar. Black barrels were produced in far smaller numbers than chrome ones and red-scale examples are the most closely watched within the run. E39 filters, roughly 150 grams.
