Leica's fastest R telephoto, the 180mm f/2 APO-Summicron-R uses nine elements in six groups with apochromatic correction and takes Series VI filters in a built-in drawer. It is a substantial lens at around 2,500 g. This is the 11271 version, the earlier R-only bayonet without the ROM contacts of the 11354 that followed in 1996. Production started at 200 lenses in 1994 and ran to roughly 1,700 across 1994 to 2005, so numbers were always small.
