Order number 11818, earlier SOSIC, is the chrome rigid Summicron that Leitz built from 1956 to 1968. The fixed barrel replaced the collapsible mount and gave the seven-element optic a stiffer, better-aligned housing, with a ten-blade diaphragm, E39 filter thread and one-metre minimum focus. Chromed brass makes it substantially heavier than the aluminium Summicrons that followed. Rigid and dual-range lenses together account for roughly 119,500 examples, and the rigid is still valued for its gradation in black and white.
