Leica's fastest wide-angle, launched in 2008 under order number 11647, is still the only f/1.4 lens at this angle of view for the M mount. The optical unit runs ten elements in eight groups with aspherical surfaces, focuses to 0.7 metres and weighs around 580 grams. There is no front filter thread: filtration is by Series VIII glass carried inside the dedicated hood. Six-bit coding lets digital M bodies apply their corrections. Black anodised is the standard finish.
