A folding medium format rangefinder built in Japan after Plaubel passed to the Doi Group, with production by Copal and later Mamiya from 1978. The scissor-strut front carries a fixed Nikkor 80mm f/2.8 that folds flat into the body, so a camera giving ten 6 x 7cm frames on 120 rollfilm collapses to something close to pocketable. Coupled rangefinder focusing keeps it usable handheld, and the Nikkor is the reason the Makina still has a following among landscape and portrait photographers.
