The Leica Angenieux Type S1 50mm f/1.8 is a rare 1950s high-speed standard lens originally developed by Pierre Angenieux for Leica screw-mount rangefinders. It employs a modified Double Gauss optical design with 6 elements in 4 groups, delivering exceptional correction for spherical aberration and coma at f/1.8. This example has been professionally converted to Leica M bayonet mount with accurate rangefinder coupling. Its rarity stems from limited production numbers and the factory’s short-lived direct collaboration with Leitz.
