Dallmeyer of London made the Septac as its fastest 2 inch lens, the name pointing to a seven-element construction, and offered it as the top option on the Ilford Witness rangefinder as well as for microfilm and cine work. Wide open at f/1.5 it glows, holding a soft luminous core that firms up quickly by f/5.6. It was made in small numbers in that one focal length and speed, and surviving examples surface only rarely.
