Kinoptik was a Paris optical house whose Apochromat lenses were built for professional 35mm cine cameras and are still sought by cinematographers for their correction and their drawing, with firm, high-contrast detail on the plane of focus against smooth backgrounds. This example has been rebuilt from its original cine mount to Leica M with rangefinder coupling, an aftermarket conversion rather than factory work, so it focuses normally on M film and digital bodies. French cine optics in usable M mounts appear only occasionally.
