Leica's 90mm f/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH arrived in 1997 as the replacement for the Mandler Summicron and is still the reference short telephoto for the M system. Five elements in five groups, apochromatically corrected and using an aspherical surface, give full colour correction wide open rather than a stop or two down, and the eleven-blade diaphragm keeps highlights round. It focuses to 1m and takes E55 filters. This is the black anodised version, order number 11884; production passed 14,820 lenses by 2005.
