Order number 10700, the CL was Leitz's compact M-bayonet rangefinder, launched in April 1973 and developed jointly with Minolta, who manufactured it in Japan. Around 65,000 were built across three batches before it was dropped in 1976. It has a vertically running cloth focal plane shutter of 1/2 to 1/1000, a through-the-lens CdS meter cell carried on a pivoting arm that swings in front of the shutter, and a 0.60x finder showing the 40mm frame permanently with 50mm or 90mm added by the lens.
