Kanto Camera in Japan repainted this M2 in black. It is an aftermarket refinish rather than one of the 1,851 black paint M2s Leitz built, though Kanto's work follows the factory finish closely and is well known among collectors. The camera beneath is a standard M2 from the 93,221 serial numbers assigned between 1957 and 1968: 0.72x finder with 35, 50 and 90mm brightlines, the first Leica rangefinder with a 35mm frame, and a cloth shutter of 1 to 1/1000s.
