The Leica M9 Black Paint is a 24x36mm full-frame digital rangefinder camera introduced in 2009 as the first M-series model with a 18-megapixel Kodak CCD sensor. It retains the classic Leica M bayonet mount and 0.68x optical viewfinder with 0.72x magnification. The body features a brass top and bottom plate finished in factory-applied black paint, deliberately thin to wear over time in the manner of earlier film M cameras. Highly sought after for its unobtrusive street-photography profile and direct compatibility with virtually all Leica M-mount lenses produced since 1954.
