The Tri-Elmar-M gives three focal lengths in one M lens, switching between 28, 35 and 50mm framing on a rotating collar and holding f/4 throughout, from a single design of eight elements in six groups. About 8,575 serial numbers were assigned across all finishes between 1996 and 2005. This is the silver chrome version, order number 11894, built on the earlier E55 barrel; the black lenses ran as 11890 in E55 and then 11625 in the revised E49 mount.
