Order number 11275, made from 1998, is the scarcest zoom Leica ever catalogued. Some 1,775 serial numbers were assigned to it, but sources put actual production at roughly 155 to 300 lenses, and it was withdrawn after a very short run. Eleven elements in nine groups with aspherical surfaces hold f/2.8 across the whole range, focusing to 0.7m with a 1:2.8 close-up setting; E77 filter, eight-blade diaphragm, 1,050g. ROM contacts pass lens data to the R8 and R9 bodies.
