The fourth 50mm Summicron arrived in 1979, a Leitz Canada redesign by Walter Mandler with Erich Wagner and Garry Edwards. Six elements in four groups give a true focal length of 52.3mm and a 47 degree diagonal field, with 0.7m minimum focus and an E39 filter thread in a barrel far more compact than the rigid it descends from. The silver chrome finish is plated brass at about 335 grams against 240 for the black anodised version. Leica catalogued the chrome lens as 11825.
