Order code 11874 is the black 35mm Summilux-M ASPH, the lens that replaced the hand-ground double aspherical in 1994 and stayed in the catalogue until 2010, with more than 18,400 built across all finishes. Walter Watz's nine element, five group design uses a single moulded aspherical surface, focuses to 0.7m and takes E46 filters. It held f/1.4 with high contrast and controlled flare wide open, and served as the reference fast 35 until the floating element version arrived.
