This is a second-version 35mm Summilux, Leica's pre-aspherical seven elements in five groups made from 1967 to 1995, that has since been stripped and repainted black by Kanto Camera in Japan. The refinish is aftermarket specialist work and not a Leica factory finish, and it alters the look rather than the optics: the 11870 barrel, 1m minimum focus, Series VII filtration inside the clamp-on hood and a weight near 245g are all as Leica built them. Kanto refinishes have a following of their own.
