The Tri-Elmar-M covers 28, 35 and 50mm in a single barrel, selected by a collar on the mount, and collectors know it as the MATE. Version 1 takes E55 filters and was made in black only; the later version was rebuilt around a redesigned mount and E49 thread. The optical layout runs eight elements in six groups with aspherical surfaces, f/4 to f/22 on an eight blade diaphragm, focusing to one metre, the lens weighing 340g. Production of both versions, from 1998 to 2007, came to roughly 8,575.
