Leica built 1,640 M6J bodies in 1994 to mark forty years of the M, against M6 production overall of more than 158,000 cameras. The J is chrome, catalogued 10440, and carries the 0.85x finder rather than the standard 0.72x. It is paired with the 50mm f/2.8 Elmar-M, the collapsible four-element, three-group Tessar type revived in the same year, taking E39 filters and focusing to 0.7 metres. The anniversary run is among the smallest of the M6 editions.
