Leitz Canada built the first 35mm Summilux from 1961 to 1966, roughly 6,400 lenses in all, and collectors call it the steel rim after the bright metal ring set around its front element. Walter Mandler and Erich Wagner drew the seven element, five group design from a patent filed in 1958. This is the M3 version, whose attached spectacles bring 35mm framing to an M3 finder and drop the close focus limit to 0.65m, here in silver chrome.
