The second Summilux-R 50mm, order number 11344, was a full redesign: eight elements in seven groups, close focus down to 0.5 metres and an E60 front, built from 1998 to 2009 in something over 2,700 lenses. At 710 grams and 70mm across it is a substantial optic, and it is the fastest standard lens Leica made for the reflex system. The ROM version adds the contact strip that passes lens data to the later R bodies.
