Ernst Leitz Canada built the Elcan-R 180mm f/3.4 for a United States Navy high-resolution 35mm system based on the Leicaflex SL2 in the early 1970s, and the design reached civilian buyers only in 1975, rebadged as the Apo-Telyt-R. Seven elements in four groups of anomalous-dispersion apochromatic glass, corrected across the visible spectrum and out to around 900 nanometres in the infrared, in a 750g R-mount barrel focusing to 2.5m. Barrels still marked Elcan-R are much scarcer than the Apo-Telyt version.
