Announced in March 2000, the Ultra Wide-Heliar 12mm f/5.6 Aspherical was the widest rectilinear lens ever put into production for 35mm, covering 121 degrees without the bent lines of a fisheye. Cosina built it in Leica screw mount from ten elements in eight groups, with nine blades, a 0.3m close focus and a removable hood. It does not couple to the rangefinder, so composition is by an accessory finder. Silver chrome is the alternative to the black finish; the screw-mount version ran until 2010, when the M-mount replacement took over.
