The M2 was launched in 1957 with a push-button clutch release for rewinding rather than the later lever. It proved unpopular and was replaced within the first year, so button rewind bodies come only from the earliest production. Otherwise this is the standard chrome M2, with the 0.72x finder carrying 35, 50 and 90mm brightlines, the first Leica rangefinder able to show 35mm lines. KOOHE is the Leitz order code for the body alone; chrome covers nearly all of the roughly 85,000 built.
