Ofunar is one of the obscure Japanese lens names of the post-war years and is largely absent from the standard collector references, so little can be stated with confidence about the maker or the size of the run. The specification is clear enough: a fast 50mm standard at f/1.9, from the period when Japanese optical works were building rangefinder normals a stop or more quicker than the pre-war Elmar class. Lenses under this name surface only occasionally and are bought as curiosities as much as for use.
